Start your weekend at our hotel in Vernon with the discovery of the city. A circuit allows you survey the center and the banks of the Seine so as not to miss anything of its inheritance: the collégiale Notre-Dame church, the medieval houses, the ramparts of the medieval bridge and its suspended mill which inspired so many impressionist painters. Continue with a visit to nearby Giverny. The village is inextricably linked to the most famous of its inhabitants, Claude Monet. His house and his garden which are the source of inspiration for his paintings, must be visited. Do not miss the impressionism museum either.
A week will give you all the time you need to explore Eure and the Seine Valley further. From your Kyriad accommodation in Vernon, set off to discover the buildings listed as historical monuments: the Château de Bizy, formerly owned by Louis XV and nicknamed "Norman Versailles", or Château-Gaillard in Andelys, the fortress built by Richard the Lionheart. An interesting story about Vernon
During the Second World War, Vernon was bombed severely and much of its heritage was destroyed. Among the surviving buildings, not to be missed is the medieval house "Le Temps Jadis", located at the corner of rues Saint-Sauveur and Carnot. It is one of the oldest mansions in the city, dating back to the fifteenth century. Note its two corbelled floors, which protrude onto the street compared to the ground floor: typical architecture of the Middle Ages.
