“Hotel Sustainability Basics”: What are They?

In line with our commitments to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and with the goal of providing our guests with hotels that better respect the planet and its inhabitants, Louvre Hotels Group has partnered with the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) towards implementing the ‘Hotel Sustainability Basics’ scheme.

Led by Jin Jiang International and several other hotel groups, this initiative aims to establish sustainable development standards in hotels around the world. The HSB program is upheld by an independent organisation (GreenKey or SGS). To get verified, hotels are required to fulfill twelve environmental and social criteria categorised under three main areas: Efficiency, Planet, and People.

Spanning three years, the verification process is tailored to the CSR maturity level of each hotel individually; in addition to standardising responsible practices, this approach recognises and rewards the more advanced establishments. International and progressive by nature, the implementation of this program seeks to foster a widespread movement towards sustainable change within the industry.

Further Advancing Sustainable Tourism

To meet our stakeholders’ expectations and address climate and societal issues, our Group is dedicated to reaching a significant goal: by the end of 2025, we aim for every hotel in our network to achieve the ‘Hotel Sustainability Basics’ verification.

With this widespread implementation, Louvre Hotels Group will operate hotels that are more resilient and efficient from an environmental, social, and economic perspective – namely the fundamental pillars of sustainable development. The ‘Hotel Sustainability Basics’ verification aligns with our ongoing commitment to improving our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices, aiming to provide our customers with sustainable travel options that resonate with their values.

Eco-friendly products and services, sustainable food choices, reduction of single-use plastic

Our fundamental actions to reduce the impact of our hotels on the environment and fight against single-use plastics:

5. Linen reuse program: all our guests can choose how often they want their sheets washed.

6. Green cleaning products: all our hotels use eco-certified cleaning products.

7. Vegetarian options: at least one vegetarian dish on the menu across our hotels.

8. No plastic straws or stirrers: we have banned plastic straws and stirrers from our network.

9. No SUP water bottles: alternatives to plastic containers available in all our hotels.

10. Bulk amenity dispensers: every hotel bathroom equipped with dispenser systems.
