An interesting story about Strasbourg

One stop in the gift shops of Strasbourg will make it abundantly clear that the stork is the icon of Strasbourg. This migratory bird has been returned to Alsace for to make its nests in Alsace once spring arrives. Considered to by a symbol of good luck for the the locals whose homes it builds a nest on, it is associated with numerous legends, with the oldest recounting that the storks drop off newborns on the doorsteps of homes hoping for a child. It is a symbol of Alsace heritage that all but disappeared in the 70s. Since protective policies were put in place, the Alsace stork is thriving once again!
