Find the not to be missed sights of Strasbourg
Whether you are staying at Kyriad Strasbourg Palais des Congrès, enjoy a moment of freedom to stroll through the historic center of Strasbourg, located on the Grande Ile. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city center is structured around Notre Dame Cathedral. Linger around this masterpiece of Gothic art, “prodigy of the gigantic and delicate", according to Victor Hugo. Outside, the pink sandstone facade presents hundreds of sculptures. On the west facade, admire the gallery of the apostles and the great rose of Master Erwin. On the main tympanum, observe the scenes of the Passion of Christ, surrounded on the left by the scenes of his childhood and on the right, by the Last Judgment. On the north facade, admire the portal Saint-Laurent, built between 1495 and 1505. The southern facade presents a Romanesque double door, with two allegories of the 13th century, representing the Church on the left, and the Synagogue on the right, flanking King Solomon, take a short distance and admire the neo-Romanesque crossover tower and the spire built in the 15th century. Inside the building, look at the stained glass windows, the rose, the Krebs organ and the white sandstone pulpit of Master Geiler. Take time to admire the astronomical clock and the baptismal font.
From your Kyriad Strasbourg Convention Center, you are approximately 10 minutes from the Palais de la Musique et des Congres. Opened in 1974 and restructured in 2016, the PMC is a collection dedicated to professional and general events such as concerts, shows, trade shows, conventions and conferences and has a total surface of 50,000 m² on two floors, three auditoriums of 1876, 1182 and 515 seats each, and a large 2,891 m² hall. These three rooms are part of the main cultural attractions of Strasbourg and offer each season a rich and varied programming ranging from jazz to the French and international song. The Convention Center is also home to the Wacken district, the international business district, easily accessible from the motorway and Strasbourg Entzheim Airport.
Located close to European institutions in Wacken District, the Orangerie Park is the perfect place to relax. It can be reached within 15 minutes of your hotel's Kyriad Strasbourg Convention Center. Enjoy 26 hectares of greenery in the heart of the city for a stroll or jog. And come see the storks no matter what the season! The iconic bird of Alsace was re-introduced in 1971. Since then, it has been home to over 800 storks. In the heart of the garden, the Joséphine Pavilion hosts exhibitions and temporary events. On the lake, the jardin de l'orangerie offers other activities such as bowling, billiards and a summer terrace. Finally, be sure to check out the Buerehiesel, a pretty timbered house built in 1607, which is home to Eric Westermann’s Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant. In the week, you can test the "business" menu with an appetizer, entrée and dessert for around forty euros. The setting is also refined.
