The Hospices de Beaune include one of the masterpieces of the Flemish artist Rogier van der Weyden, the polyptych of the Last Judgment. An altarpiece consisting of fifteen paintings from 1443 to 1452 for the Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune, it is today on display in a room of the museum, at constant temperature and humidity, to avoid deterioration due to the 350,000 annual visitors. It is one of the few works of art exhibited at the site of its creation.
