Interesting facts about Brive-la-Gaillarde
Hospitals as they are known today are financially dependent on the state or are privately owned. But centuries ago, they had to find a way to make money. In 1641, a “jeu de paume” was built in the hospital of Our Lady-la-Gaillarde, to be rented out to make money. But the jeu de paume has been destroyed to be replaced by the Dubois hospice, which was used until 1901.
